Services:
- Dental Implants
- The most natural replacement for teeth that are lost due to trauma or periodontitis (periodontal disease).
- A titanium implant replaces the natural root of a tooth. Once placed into the jaw and allowed to heal, your general dentist will attach a crown or appliance to restore your natural contour, function, comfort, esthetics, speech, and health of your mouth.
- LANAP Periodontal Surgery using Periolase Laser
- Instead of traditional periodontal surgery that involved cutting and sewing, we now offer no cutting and no sewing with Laser periodontal surgery using LANAP.
- LANAP stands for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure. LANAP reduces periodontal gum pocket depth by helping:
- The dentist to have improved visualization of the laser-detached gum pocket soft tissue linings to aid scaling and root planing for removal of calculus (tartar) deposits.
- Reattachment of the laser treated gum tissues to the roots by promoting growth of new bone and/or root surfaces.
- LANAP treatments are generally less painful than traditional flap surgical procedures and in the doctor's opinion have greater predictability for reattachment of gum tissue and bone growth. Thus, LANAP helps promote long term periodontal health.
- Soft Tissue Grafting
- The most common type of gum graft is called a subepithelial connective tissue graft.
- Instead of surgically taking connective tissue from your palate, which can be quite painful, we now use a relatively new material called Alloderm.
- Alloderm consists of a collagen matrix that preserves all the elements necessary for revascularization and cellular repopulation.
- Crown Lengthening
- There are usually two reasons for crown lengthening.
- If the crown of your tooth or teeth are too short or the tooth structure has been destroyed due to decay below the gums, then the crown must be lengthened to allow for successful restoration.
- If your teeth don't ever fully erupt, your gums don't recede naturally, and you exhibit a "gummy" smile, then you can have surgical removal of the excess gum tissue to reveal dramatic results leaving you with your natural, beautiful smile.
- Ridge Preservation
- Whenever you have an extraction, the socket that remains in the ridge of bone leaves it at a fragile state.
- By placing bone grafting material into the socket, we are able to preserve and fortify the ridge of bone.
- Ridge Augmentation
- The most common ridge augmentation procedure is called an onlay bone graft.
- This procedure is done when there has been loss of bone either due to tooth loss or atrophy. By grafting bone, we can build the bone back to it's natural height and width.
- Sinus Lift
- Sometimes when an upper tooth is lost, the maxillary sinus can grow and expand into the space where the tooth used to be.
- In order to replace the tooth that was lost with an implant, a sinus lift must be done to move the sinus back into it's original position allowing for new bone growth in which the implant can be placed.
- Scaling and Root Planing
- When you develop periodontal disease, pockets form in your gums allowing plaque and calculus (tartar) to accumulate along the root surfaces.
- In order to stop the disease process, the plaque and calculus need to be removed so that the gum can heal.
- This procedure is most commonly known as "deep cleaning."
- Perioscopy
- In the past the only way to see the root surfaces of teeth during scaling and root planing was to do a traditional periodontal flap.
- There is new endoscopic technology, called perioscopy, where we can now see the root surface during scaling and root planing.
For added comfort we also offer:
- Oral Sedation
- Sedatives taken by mouth to provide a measue of sedation.
- Usually taken one hour before the appointment in order to allow time for them to work.
- You will need someone to provide transportation both to and from the appointments following ingestion of this type of medication.
- Intravenous (IV) Conscious Sedation
- Sedative medication administered into one of your veins.
- The level of sedation is deeper and more controlled than when using other forms such as nitrous oxide or oral sedatives.
- Conscious sedation is only administered by doctors who have had advanced training in this type of sedation such as periodontists.
- Nitrous Oxide
- Most commonly known as "laughing gas," this medication is inhaled through a mask that rests over your nose.
- Once the mask is removed, the effects of the gas disappear very rapidly.
